Salone del Mobile unique designs
A fair that has always had an impact on design and decor, past, present, and future. A worldwide marketplace centred on product innovation for genuinely remarkable items – The new goods shown in this year’s event are still fresh in the imaginations – and on the camera rolls – of designers, architects, and other members of the trade. Let’s take a look at some of the best designs.
Remarkable unique chair designs
One of the most functional and trendy products was the amazing swivel chairs that BRABBU had in full force. These chairs are composed of a swivel element that allows a rotation of 360º. So, besides being extremely functional and practical for every interior, these are also extremely trendy and modern.
Boca do Lobo, for instance, showcased their unique Soleil Collection. Inspired by the spirit and mission of the famous Cirque de Soleil, the purpose is to invoke, provoke and evoke. So, these armchairs and dining chairs are really soft, sultry curves gently embracing the sitter in a very elegant vintage and contemporary style.
Take, for example, India Mahdavi’s reinvention of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna’s bentwood seating, in which the designer plays up the brand’s curves to create lounge chairs and a banquette characterised by coiled rings.
The sentiment is shared by Arjumand, an Italian fabric firm that unveiled a series of slipper chairs at the market dressed in a mix-and-match selection of its vibrantly printed fabrics—contrasting trims and pleasantly full skirts included.
BassamFellows continues to push the boundaries of 3D moulded wood veneer with new shapes. Designers created a chair silhouette that evokes the geometries made available by fibreglass and plastic in the twentieth century (think Eames’ Tulip chair). The result is the Petal chair, which unfurls in shape as though in full bloom and is available in a variety of chair types.
Under the creative direction of Sam Baron, and in partnership with a number of designers, Pierre Frey debuted 30 new furniture pieces during Salone del Mobile 2022. Standouts include Sebastian Bergne’s bulbous Kiss trio, which comprises an accent chair, ottoman, and side table that combine sumptuous upholstery with lacquered details.
