The Secret to her Artful World
Her passion for design, art, and workmanship has always been evident in her life since an early age. What is for many people a lifelong pursuit of a professional purpose and passion, was a natural process for the designer. Amy worked for a prestigious import-export store called “Antigua de Mexico” immediately after graduating from college, where she not only had the opportunity to connect with several master artisans in developing beautiful pieces, but also to create the interior design for the retail set to exhibit the products.

Amy saw the opportunity to go on her own and launch her own design practice in 2001 while working as a gallery design director for Lynne Weinberg. She had previously done some curatorial work for several international shows at the time, and people began to seek her assistance after seeing her work. Amy Lau‘s design studio has been famously renowned for constructing unique high-end interiors noted for their warmth, expressiveness, and excellent attention to detail from its inception, a reputation that continues to this day.

According to the designer, the secret to creating a truly different and unique design is to have a passionate client who wants to create history and has a secret passion for art. “They give me the inspirations for things, but I’m able to translate it to high-level interiors”, she tells.
Amy’s portfolio of beautiful residential interiors encompasses a diverse range of artistic and sophisticated homes from around the world, so choosing the one that defined her professional path is difficult. ”There is a lot in my mind that are memorable, but this is the first apartment that I’ve been able to design for myself, which it’s not done (laughs) and which every single piece was all torn apart.”
The firm’s work has been featured in several top design publications such as Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, and House Beautiful and has earned many of the most prized awards in design, including the House Beautiful Next-Wave Award, Architectural Digest/AD 100 Award, ELLE Decor A-List and the Luxe Interiors + Design Gold List.
