Louis Benech had a genuine interest in flora, which led him to landscape design and gardening. After receiving his legal degree, he chose to work as an agricultural labourer for Hillier nurseries in England. He is a well-known landscape architect in France and a fixture on the social scene in his home country.

Backen, Arrigoni & Ross was co-founded by Howard J. Backen, who later founded Backen & Gillam Architects in Napa, California.
