Milan Design Week is the world’s major design event, encompassing shows and events in hundreds of venues around the city’s design districts and anchored by the Salone del Mobile furniture fair.
Installations
The Italian architect, designer and academic Mario Cucinella displayed their installation at this year’s Salone del Mobile. The project, titled Design with Nature, will be located at S.Project’s Pavilion 15 and will be developed exclusively for the 60th edition of Salone del Mobile. spanning a 1,400-square-metre area will elicit questions, recommendations, and reflections on ethics, circularity, domestic space, participatory design, and urban regeneration.
Gruppo Saviola presents “LEGEND. the Renaissance” in the halls of Torneria Tortona for Milan Design Week: an immersive itinerary showcasing the creation of the company’s 100 per cent recycled wood panels.
The Nova house is a nomadic dwelling of 45 m2 and is kept at Piazza San Babila in Milan during the Design Week, which began this Tuesday, June 7 in the Italian city. Louis Vuitton is launching its tenth collection of nomadic objects, which include ornamental and furniture pieces. Some of these artworks are also on display in this interesting home.
Sidereal Station is a metaphorical telescope looking to the future. This is an audiovisual experience of the beauty of our planet projected by AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi with Whirlpool, and it is being displayed at Università degli Studi di Milano.
Fuorisalone
Since 2003, Fuorisalone has been the reference site, an event that defines the Milan Design Week alongside the Salone del Mobile. It has been adopted over the years by firms in numerous product categories as well as designers to promote brands, projects, and events related to Milan Design Week.
The theme for this year’s Salone del Mobile is “between Space and Time”, an invitation to think about global developments in order to accomplish sustainable goals that allow us to look to the future.
Some of the events
From June 6 to 12, the IKEA Festival will be held at the BASE, a 12,000-square-metre events complex in Milan’s Zona Tortona neighbourhood. It investigates the link between people and their houses and how it has evolved over time, as well as how a more thoughtful home might increase wellness and contribute to environmental protection.
Design Districts
With The Art of Dreams, a dream-like immersive installation, the world-renowned German automobile company Porsche prepares to investigate the interplay of nature, art, design, and technology in their inaugural participation at Milan Design Week 2022. The work, which is on display at Palazzo Clerici in the heart of Brera, one of Milan’s most charming historical palaces, was created by acclaimed floral artist Ruby Barber, founder of Studio Mary Lennox, who creates a visually enriched, sculptural and floral artwork that combines the fragility of flowers with the promise of 21st-century technology.
